How We Clean Soft Toys in Old Salata

Check and Test

Illustrated soft toy cleaning process, from inspection and colour test through to drying

Seams, fixings and filling are checked, electronics found and dealt with, and the dye colour-tested on a hidden patch. Anything already loose or likely to stay stained is reported before cleaning starts.

Hand Wash and Sanitise

Plush toys being hand-washed in a sink of suds, with clean toys drying on the counter behind

Washed by hand at low temperature in sections, never in a drum, then sanitised through the filling to deal with dust mites and bacteria rather than just the smell.

Dry, Brush and Check

Four plush teddy bears dried and groomed, sitting upright with the fur brushed back up

Air-dried at room temperature until the core of the stuffing is dry, then brushed out along the fur so the pile stands up, and checked over once more before it is packed.

Seals and dolphins come home in 2 to 3 days. Their long bodies hold filling that dries slowly in plain room air, and heat would ruin the sleek finish. If you are travelling soon and want it back first, tell us the date and we will be straight about it.

Sleek plush kept cool.
Date by message.

Yes, it is gentle for babies. Every grain of sand is brushed away first so it cannot scratch, then the seal gets a cool rinse with mild fabric sanitiser and a complete dry. Whiskers and eyes are looked at closely, and loose ones are reported before return.

No scent.
Whiskers tested.

Often, yes. Dolphins that click or seals that bark keep their unit in the belly, which usually unclips. We take it out, clean the toy and refit it. If it is sewn in, it is wrapped and kept dry. Any real risk means a message first.

Glued whiskers tested.
No unit soaked.

Yes, the seal should stay smooth and sleek. Spinning would rough up short plush and push filling into the tail, so we clean each part by hand. After drying, the pile is brushed in one direction so it lies flat and soft.

Shiny finish dulled by wear stays dull.
We explain first.

Yes, sand and dust both carry mites deep into a toy. A quick rinse at home leaves them in the filling, and damp sand can even sour the stuffing. We brush out every grain, press sanitiser into the filling and dry the seal to its core, which properly lowers the load.

Good after beach days.

Yes, the old streets beside us are on our daily run. Al Mirqab, Al Rufaa and Al Hitmi are each a minute or two away, so seals and dolphins from there are collected free, cost exactly the same and come home just as fast. Share your location to book.

4.6/5 Rating

"My daughter's bear has been slept with for four years and I was too scared to wash it. It came back clean and still soft, and she did not notice anything different about it, which was the whole point."

— Noura Al B.

"We do this every couple of months now because of my son's asthma. They clean the bedding and his two toys together and the difference in his mornings is obvious."

— Deepa R.

"Big unicorn plush, about a metre tall. Took three days because of the drying, which they told me upfront, and it came back fluffy instead of the flat mess I got from the washer last time."

— Tom H.

"They found a loose eye on one of the toys and told me instead of sending it back like that. Small thing, but with a toddler in the house it mattered."

— Mariam Y.

"We sent eleven toys from our nursery playroom. Collected on Sunday, back midweek, all labelled and counted correctly. The batch price was fair for the work."

— Sunita K.

"A singing elephant with the sound box sewn in. I assumed it was not washable. They cleaned around the unit and it still plays, so I was wrong."

— Wesam T.

"My mother's teddy from the sixties. They said in advance the faded patches would not improve and not to expect white, and that honesty is why I used them again."

— Iryna P.
