Seven nights of beach and pool clothes rarely fit one suitcase. A 6kg bag costs AED 60, a 12kg bag AED 99, and additional kilos AED 12 each. Hand it over mid-week at Rixos Bab Al Bahr and it returns folded the next day.

Fourteen restaurants and bars mean plenty of evenings out. Dresses cost AED 40, evening dresses AED 65, shirts AED 15 and a jumpsuit AED 35. Give them to the driver before noon and they can be back for dinner.

Linen shirts and summer dresses crumple on the flight. Pressing is AED 9 for a shirt on a hanger, AED 12 for trousers and AED 25 for a jacket, returned to the resort inside 24 hours.

The resort handles its own bedding and towels, so this suits residents of Marjan Island and Al Hamra homes. Sheets cost AED 18, duvets AED 50 and bath towels AED 6, back in a day, or two for large duvets.

Sand and salt water dull leather sandals and canvas shoes fast. We charge AED 45 for sandals, AED 55 for sneakers or smart shoes and AED 85 for boots. Since shoes take two to four days, hand them over in the first half of the week.

A straw or canvas tote that held wet towels all week. A tote, handbag or backpack is AED 45 and a larger duffel AED 65. Cleaning takes three to five days, which suits a week-long booking if it goes in early.

A dress or pair of trousers bought on holiday that needs a shorter hem or a nip at the waist. Most alterations cost AED 40 and take 48 to 72 hours, so ask early in the week.

Not for resort guests: this is for people living in apartments on Marjan Island or in Al Hamra. Ordinary carpet is charged at AED 20 a square metre and wool at AED 26; curtains run AED 20 or AED 25 a square metre according to lining. The job takes three days.

For couples who celebrated on the coast, with sand in the hem. A plain gown starts at AED 250 and a beaded one at AED 450, and we can pack it in a storage box for AED 210. The process takes seven to fourteen days.

For entertainers and agencies who run character shows at resorts and events in Ras Al Khaimah. Each character suit is priced by size, at AED 200, AED 230 or AED 250, and heads, gloves or props add AED 30 apiece. Turnaround is three to five days.

The plush friend that joined every kids' club session and every pool day comes home clean. We charge AED 55 for a small toy, AED 70 for a medium one and AED 120 for a large one, with two or three days to wash and dry it.

For island and Al Hamra households with removable covers. A standard cover is AED 35 and a large one AED 40, with cushion covers between AED 10 and AED 20 by size. Allow two or three days.

Guests flying in from colder countries often travel in a leather jacket. Cleaning one starts at AED 150, a leather coat or blazer at AED 130, and a wallet is AED 100. It all takes between three and five days.
