A family weekend in a villa or chalet fills the laundry basket quickly. Children’s clothes, beachwear and everyday outfits go into one bag: AED 99 for 12kg, AED 60 for 6kg and AED 12 per extra kilo. Washed, folded by person if you ask, and back within 24 hours of collection.

Traditional wear for family visits and evenings on the Corniche. A kandura is AED 15 to clean, a basic abaya AED 18, a delicate abaya AED 35, a jalabiya AED 20, a ghutra AED 8 and a sirwal AED 30. We agree the return time when you book.

Sometimes the robe is clean and simply needs a sharp line for the majlis. Ironing a bisht costs AED 30, a kandura AED 12, a shimagh AED 10, a plain abaya AED 10 and a ghutra AED 7. Everything is hung and brought back within a day of pickup.

Families who keep a house in Khor Fakkan can send its bedding with the resort order; the resort’s own linen is never included. Washing a sheet costs AED 18, a pillowcase AED 7, a comforter AED 45 and a duvet AED 50. One day, or two for thick duvets.

Sand from the bay ends up in every child’s trainer, and the smart shoes need a shine before visiting relatives. A child’s pair costs AED 35, an adult’s smart pair AED 55 and sandals AED 45. Ready in up to four days.

Before the new school term, the children’s backpacks can travel back clean, and the handbag used for family visits can come too. Clutches and everyday handbags cost AED 45, school bags AED 40 and large handbags AED 55. Up to five days.

Kanduras and abayas that need adjusting before an occasion. A kandura shortened is AED 40, a full custom kandura fitting AED 95, an abaya shortened AED 40, or AED 55 with embroidery or lace, and a jalabiya adjusted AED 40. Two to three days.

Majlis rugs in family houses around Khor Fakkan gather sand from the bay; the resort’s own carpets are never part of this. Ordinary rugs cost AED 20 per square metre to clean and wool AED 26, while curtains cost AED 20, or AED 25 with a blackout lining.

East-coast weddings bring the whole family together, and their outfits deserve care afterwards. The bride’s abaya is AED 50, the groom’s kandura AED 20 and a little girl’s party dress AED 28; white gowns begin at AED 250, beaded at AED 450. Allow one to two weeks.

Waterfront family days and National Day events in Khor Fakkan often feature a walking character. Its costume costs AED 200, AED 230 or AED 250 to clean according to size, with AED 30 for each separate head, glove or prop. Back within five days.

Every child seems to bring a favourite bear to the villa, and it rarely escapes the beach. Washing one by hand costs AED 55 for a little toy, AED 70 for a mid-size one and AED 120 for a big one; it then dries slowly over two or three days.

Removable covers from majlis sofas in local homes can come too, though never anything from the resort. A normal cover costs AED 35 and an oversized one AED 40; cushion covers run from AED 10 small to AED 20 large. Two or three days.

In the cooler months a leather jacket comes along for evenings by the bay. Cleaning and conditioning one starts from AED 150, a coat or blazer from AED 130, shoes from AED 180 and a wallet or belt from AED 100. Up to five days.
