A shirt sleeve should end right at the wrist bone, so a little cuff shows under a jacket. We shorten to exactly that point — a small change that noticeably sharpens the whole fit.

Jacket sleeves can be shortened from the cuff or, when there are working buttonholes, from the shoulder to preserve them. We assess each jacket and do it the right way — not all tailors will.
