History
From Oryx Rotana to Hyatt Regency.
The hotel on Al Matar Street was the Oryx Rotana for years, owned by Qatar Airways from 2010. In 2020 Hyatt announced it would reopen the building as Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha, the first Hyatt Regency in Qatar, with 400 rooms, a Regency Club and two ballrooms. After a refurbishment it reopened in February 2025.
- 2010Qatar Airways becomes the owner of the Oryx Rotana on Al Matar Street.
- 2020Hyatt announces in August that the building will become Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha, owned by Qatar Airways' hotel arm Dhiafatina, with reservations from 15 September.
- 2025The hotel reopens in February with 400 revamped rooms and suites, The Cellar, Nafourah Garden and a jazz club.
