With 608 rooms and a 65 m pool, this resort fills up with families, and families fill laundry bags. A 6kg bag is AED 60, a 12kg bag AED 99, and every extra kilo AED 12. Everything is washed, dried and folded, then handed back at Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah within 24 hours.

A cotton shirt for Mowsem, a dress for the 13th-floor bar, a kandura for Friday. Shirts cost AED 15, trousers AED 18, a normal dress AED 40 and a kandura AED 15. Dry cleaning collected before midday can be back at the resort that evening.

Anything that came out of the suitcase clean but crumpled only wants steam and a press. We charge AED 9 per shirt returned on a hanger, AED 12 per pair of trousers and AED 25 per day dress, with no wash. Whatever the driver takes from the Hilton in the morning is hung in your wardrobe again within 24 hours.

Most useful for flats and villas along the Trunk, or for guests who travel with a baby blanket or their own beach towels. A beach towel is AED 6, a bath robe AED 16 and a bed sheet AED 18. Linen returns in 24 hours; allow 48 hours for a big duvet.

A walk along Palm West Beach leaves sand in every seam. Kids' shoes are AED 35, sandals and espadrilles from AED 45, and trainers or formal shoes from AED 55. Shoes need 2 to 4 days, so book them early in a week at Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah.

Beach totes, backpacks and gym holdalls collect sun cream, salt and spilt juice over a holiday. A tote or backpack starts at AED 45, a kids' school bag at AED 40 and a duffel at AED 65. Bags take 3 to 5 days, so send them early in the stay.

Weddings and galas for up to 800 guests take place here, and a dress bought online or a borrowed suit may need a tuck or a shorter hem. Trouser hems and waists start at AED 40, and an evening gown hem at AED 45. Allow 48 to 72 hours and give us your event date in the first message.

Plainly, this service is for people who live nearby, not for hotel rooms: apartment owners on the Trunk and villa owners on the fronds. Carpets are AED 20 per sqm, wool AED 26 per sqm, and blackout curtains AED 25 per sqm. Both take 3 days.

A favourite toy follows children from the pirate ship to the kids' pool and back again. Small soft toys are AED 55, medium AED 70 and large AED 120. Toys need 2 to 3 days with us, which is why parents tend to send the bear on day one and pack it clean on the last morning.

This one is for homes, not guest rooms: flats on the Trunk and villas on the fronds. A regular sofa cover is AED 35, a large one AED 40, and small cushion covers AED 10. We wash and press them gently, so they slip back over the cushions, and return them within 2 to 3 days.
