Snorkelling, kayaking and pool days leave a pile of damp, salty clothes. Shorts, T-shirts, cover-ups and the children’s swimwear go together: AED 99 for 12kg, AED 60 for 6kg, AED 12 per extra kilo. Rinsed, washed, folded and returned within 24 hours of collection.

Light dresses, linen shirts and kanduras for dinner at Mozaique or Waves. A normal dress is AED 40, an evening dress AED 65, a shirt or kandura AED 15 and trousers AED 18. We agree the return time when you book, so the outfit is ready for the evening you need it.

Clothes that only creased in the car on the drive from Dubai or Sharjah. A shirt on a hanger is AED 9, a dress AED 25, trousers AED 12, a jumpsuit AED 25 and a kandura AED 12. Pressed and delivered within 24 hours of collection.

Strictly the towels and wraps you brought from home, not the resort’s own. Each one costs AED 6, a dressing gown AED 16 and a small mat AED 10. People with a holiday home on this coast often add bed sheets at AED 18 each and a duvet at AED 50.

Coral sand and sea water work their way into every stitch. We charge AED 45 for a pair of sandals, AED 55 for running shoes and AED 35 for a child’s pair, plus AED 20 if you want a protective coating. It takes up to four days, so hand them over early in the week.

A week of wet towels and leaking sun cream bottles leaves its mark on any bag. A tote, rucksack or everyday handbag is AED 45, a duffel AED 65 and a cabin-size suitcase AED 85. Allow up to five days and give us your checkout date so we can plan.

A dress strap that snapped or a hem caught on the rocks. Day-dress hems and strap shortening are AED 40, small zips AED 50 and seam repairs AED 40. Two to three days, which fits a week at Al Aqah.

Aimed at people who own a villa or chalet between Al Aqah and Dibba, and never at resort furnishings. We charge by area: AED 20 per square metre for an ordinary rug, AED 26 for wool, AED 20 for curtains and AED 25 if they have a blackout lining. Three days.

Saying vows on the sand is beautiful, but the hem pays for it. A simple gown costs from AED 250 to clean and a beaded one from AED 450; we add the veil for AED 55 and can pack the dress in a storage box for AED 210. Allow one to two weeks.

Animation teams on the east coast wear character suits for children’s shows in serious heat. Cleaning one costs AED 200, AED 230 or AED 250 depending on size, with AED 30 per separate head, glove set or prop. Ready in three to five days.

Some teddies insist on swimming too. A small one costs AED 55 to rescue, a medium AED 70 and a big one AED 120; each is washed by hand and left to dry naturally. It is back in two or three days, in time for the drive home.

If your chalet near Al Aqah has zip-off sofa covers full of sand, send them to us; resort furniture is never included. A normal cover costs AED 35, an extra-large one AED 40, and cushion covers AED 10, AED 15 or AED 20. Two or three days.

Damp sea air dries leather out and can mark it. Cleaning and conditioning a leather jacket starts from AED 150, a coat or blazer from AED 130, boots and shoes from AED 180 and a wallet or belt from AED 100. Up to five days.
